'Ramshackle Tabernacle' was recorded and produced by Richard Neuberg (Viarosa) and the band at Strawhouse Studios in Oxford.

The album is a veritable sonic stew with a cast of characters from both fiction and the real world. Rip Van Winkle, Connie Converse and James ‘Mad’ Lucas, address the themes of absenteeism and hermits (‘Old Rip’, ‘Connie Converse’) and they sit alongside more personal songs (‘I Am The Teeth’, ‘Wilderness’, ‘Half Light’).
